ARE YOU READY FOR DIGITAL T.V.?
On February 17, 2009, television stations all over the country will begin broadcasting exclusively in a digital format, ending analog broadcasts that come through conventional television antennas. After February 17, 2009, to continue receiving free, over-the-air signals, a television set must have either a digital tuner or a set-top converter box that converts the new digital signal into the old analog format and the set to continue receiving broadcast-only signals. Congress established the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Coupon Program. Through this program, every U.S. household is eligible to receive up to two $40 coupons to purchase converter boxes. You can now request your coupons online at www.dtv2009.gov, by calling 1-888-DTV-2009, or by mail. It’s important to remember that coupons expire 90 days after they are issued. FAMILY CRISIS CENTER LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAM
We here at the Family Crisis Center are beginning a new program to benefit those who have fallen victim to the problem of domestic violence. We are giving one of our resources, the book, WHY DOES HE DO THAT? Inside the minds of angry and controlling men, by Lundy Bancroft, to those who have felt and still feel the effects of domestic violence. This book teaches its readers about some of the following: The early warning signs…ten abusive personality types..the role of drugs and alcohol…what you can fix and what you can’t ..how to get out of a relationship safely and many other things to help understand what is happening. Your support in this action to better educate these victims helps them to stay out of future abusive relationships and helps you as well. In having community members who are well educated in domestic violence you are raising the awareness of it existence and its effects. These people will be able to use not only the knowledge they gained through their reading of this book, but through their testimonies of how it destroys lives; both directly in indirectly. They will be able to pass on their knowledge and experience to other potential victims of this debilitating disease and save others from becoming another statistic that degrades who we, as a society, are. In supporting this movement you will be letting the world know that you stand against domestic violence. An attachment will be placed inside of each book so that victims will know you have been a part of the healing process and are an advocate for the end of domestic violence. If you would like to stand up with the Family Crisis Center and stop to domestic violence we are experiencing here then call us and show your commitment by pledging how many books you will help us provide these victims with. You can reach the Family Crisis Center Monday through Thursday from eight to four and Fridays from eight to two. Our phone number is 208.356.0065, and we are located between Porter's and Artco at 218 Dividend Dr. in Rexburg
JULY 22-26
ST. ANTHONY PIONEER DAYS
Theater at its finest, rodeo action at its toughest, and fireworks at their most spectacular are just a few events planned during the St. Anthony Pioneer Day celebration in addition to what has been touted as the best parade in the entire region. It all starts Tuesday, July 22, with the opening of “The Music Man” on stage at the Roxy Theater in St. Anthony. The production runs through Friday with show time at 7 p.m. and Saturday with a matinee at 3 p.m. No Saturday evening performance is scheduled. The annual Pioneer Day Rodeo begins Friday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fremont County Fairgrounds in St. Anthony and concludes Saturday, July 26, followed by fireworks. Early Saturday morning is the 5K and 10K Run Fun. Pre-registration is available until July 11. To register the morning of the race, be at the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. Race time is 7 a.m. for the 10K run and 7:30 a.m. for the 5K. Walkers and runners are encouraged to participate. To pre-register, contact Ron Albaugh at 624-4287.
Some of the tastiest homemade treats around will go on sale at 8 a.m. at the St. Anthony City Building, 410 North Bridge. The cooked food sale will be open until everything is sold.
The much-anticipated parade begins at 10:30 a.m. from the South Fremont High School parking lot. “In God We Trust” reflects both a patriotic and religious theme for this year’s parade.
Grand marshals are Aaron and Maurine Angell, Curley and Karen Morton, Don and Jean Trupp, and Roy and Vivian Beddes. Again this year, the parade will make a loop that excludes Bridge Street. From the high school, it will travel down North Bridge only as far as Third North, where it will turn east and travel around the Fort Henry (Horsey) Park and take Fifth East for one block and turn onto First North. It will travel 10 blocks, passing in front of the county courthouse and turning north on Fifth West at the Third-Fourth LDS Ward church and proceed to Fourth North. It will turn east and proceed to the high school by way of First West. After the parade, concession stands around town will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages. The St. Anthony LDS Stake championship softball games will begin at 1 p.m. at the Stake Center ball field. “The Music Man” matinee begins at 3 p.m. at the Roxy. And capping off the activities for the day are the rodeo and fireworks.
Other activities planned in the community on July 26 are the Henry’s Fork Gardeners and Crafters Market. The location for the market will be determined after the July 9 St. Anthony City Council meeting. The Fremont Emporium office will be open from 8 a.m. until the parade crowd dissipates. The Emporium crew will offer beverages and information. The Emporium will also have booths at Broulim’s Market and the Henry’s Fork Market.

Tickets will be mailed to those selected shortly after the registration process closes. Patrons not selected to receive tickets will be notified by e-mail.
