MUSIC ON MAIN SCHEDULE
Teton Valley Foundation’s Music on Main Concert Series, taking place in Victor City Park, Victor, Idaho, has announced the lineup for the upcoming 2010 series. This summer’s lineup features national bands that are all new to Music on Main, and most are new to the Teton region.

The Teton Valley Foundation (TVF) and START Bus have entered into an agreement for START Bus to provide shuttle transportation to the 2010 Music On Main concert series in Victor, Idaho, with service from Alta, Wyoming, Driggs, Idaho, and Jackson and Wilson, Wyoming. You can find a link to the shuttle service at www.startbus.com 
Music on Main takes place in Victor City Park, Victor, Idaho on Thursday July 15, 22, 29, August 5, 12, and 19, beginning at 6:00 PM and ending by 10:00 PM.

AUGUST 1
 
IRWIN: BARBECUE
Chapel in the Valley, on Highway 26 in Irwin, will hold its annual fund-raiser barbecue beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday.   It’ll feature beef brisket, BBQ Chicken, Salad and Deserts. Everyone is welcome.
 
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK
For the seventh consecutive year, the Teton Arts Council, with this years sponsor Wells Fargo, is bringing Montana Shakespeare in the Parks to Teton Valley to entertain and delight attendees for free with the performance of one of Shakespeare’s classic comedies. The event will feature a performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and will be held from 5-8pm on Sunday, August 1st at Creekside Meadows Park.
 
In addition to the performance, the event will feature a Children’s Glen full of fun activities for the kids, a raffle with all money raised benefiting the Teton Arts Council, and a great night for families to bring a picnic and enjoy a few hours of Shakespearean comedy.
 
 
AUGUST 6-7
 
JOHN COLTER RUN
 
Now a running tradition here in Teton Valley for more than three decades, the John Colter Half Marathon & 2-mile Fun Run is set to mark its 34th annual running in 2010, along a course that takes runners along the streets of both the town of Driggs and nearby Alta, Wyoming, in the shadow of the majestic Tetons.
Both the half marathon and the two-mile "fun run" start and finish in Driggs at the Driggs City Park on the corner of First Street and Wallace Avenue. From there, runners follow the city streets westward toward the Wyoming town of Alta, which lies right along the Idaho-Wyoming state line. Once runners hit the turnaround point in Alta, they then head back eastward, back toward the finish line at Driggs City Park.

DRIGGS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
Help Driggs celebrate its 100th birthday!
The fun begins with a community dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Spud Drive-In. featuring music by the Jackson Six.
 
Saturday’s activities begin with placement of a time capsule at the Teton Valley Museum at 10 a.m. A parade starts at 11 a.m. with lots of fun at the City Park afterwards. Bring blankets and lounge chairs and join in lots of games for all ages and live music. Food will be provided by the Centennial Committee and the Driggs, Idaho Stake.
 
 
AUGUST 7
 
TRI-STEER ROPING CLASSIC
The Tri-Steer Roping Classic will be held at the Teton County Fairground Arena in Driggs. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. start. $50 entry / 3 Draw Partners and no entry limit. Classic cash payouts. New this year: Championship Steer Riding to follow the roping. $25 entry fee for ages 12 and under. For more information call Michelle at 208-709-6466.
 
TETON REGIONAL LAND TRUST
The Teton Regional Land Trust will hold its 20th anniversary celebration at Six Springs Ranch, its first conservation easement.  They plan to bring together over 500 old friends and new for a wonderful summer celebration of land, community and conservation that spotlights the uniqueness and beauty of the Upper Snake River Valley.

Tickets are currently available in the online store at Grand Targhee Resort.  Tickets are currently $59 for Friday only, $69 for Saturday only and $59 for Sunday only.  A weekend festival ticket is $139.  Children 12 and under are free for the festival only.  A list of local and regional ticket vendors will be announced next week. Grand Targhee Resort will continue their commitment to operating a sustainable festival experience by offering plentiful recycling receptacles throughout the Resort over the weekend, encouraging guests to use refillable bottles and containers, requiring all vendors to use compostable or recyclable cups, plates, utensils and napkins, providing a free shuttle service from Teton Valley, Idaho during the festival, and offering educational information at a Sustainability Booth during the festival.  The Green Team will be on hand again to help festival-goers sort their waste.  Our goal this summer is to divert 50% of our festival waste through recycling and composting.
 
The winner of the first Targhee Bluegrass Festival Poster Contest is Teton Valley, ID resident Kathleen Hanson of Hanson Illustration.  (see attachments)
“I was inspired by the rock posters that came out of the 60’s and 70’s, the stunning valley I am so lucky to live in, and the amazing people that are a part of my life,” said Hanson.
Hanson will receive VIP access, lodging and tickets to the 23rd Annual Bluegrass Festival in August, and a version of her poster signed by all of the artists at the festival.
